This image represents a Dream for me. In the early stages of my career, I sensed the need to put myself out into the world; to become known as a professional garden photographer and pursue a life which I was wholehearted and passionate about. Cherry blossom season in Japan was the most beautiful moment I could imagine in a garden. In March 2006, I visited, full of hope, with my first hefty digital camera. One afternoon at Kenroku-en, widely considered one of Japan's three most beautiful landscape gardens, I was elated when it started to snow. If felt magical and surreal, like a living painting. I composed this scene using a tripod from underneath an umbrella. Moments later, a couple gracefully entered my frame. I quickly fired off two shots, one of which won the inaugural International Garden Photographer of the Year Award in 2008. This is still my favourite image today.
