PHLOMIS

Photographing plants in detail came later to me, as I was initially drawn to the big picture and vast sweeping landscapes.  With many years working as a garden photographer, I learnt to also love photographing plant details. I’m always looking at the light falling on plants, as well as backgrounds. This one, photographed at Le Jardin Champêtre, in France, was particularly interesting to me for its abstract nature, blocks of colour and blues, appreciated more fully in the editing process. I have no idea where the blue in the garden came from, but are always looking for simple backgrounds for plants.
